Lets talk this month about what is going on in the Town of Mono. On my desk is the report from Dufferin OPP for January and February of this year. This may seem a little late but I didn’t receive the report until April and this is my first opportunity. The important stats for us are Property Crime with 6 occurrences and a 50% clearance rate. For Motor Vehicle collisions there were – 1 Personal injury and 19 property damage only for a total of 20 0ccurrences. As these were 2 Winter months I think the report shows a drop in these items. Thanks go to S/SG. Sills and his officers for this and just maybe our effort to educate the public is making a difference.
The OPP crime prevention Program, ”Lock it or Lose it“ is still on and let’s all try to remember this important directive. I hope everyone has noticed the “new” black and white colour scheme on the Cruisers. This takes me back quite a few years to when this colour scheme was well known.
We are into holiday time already due to the early warm weather and the next three months are prime vacation time. Please take extra care when on vacation. Nothing spoils a happy time with family as an unexpected auto crash. Drive a little slower, it is better to get there late than not at all! Plan to avoid heavy traffic times and watch for dangerous or aggressive drivers. Make sure you carry an Emergency kit in your car and carry plenty of water for everyone on the hot days. Good luck and happy holidays.
Safety Tip – Keep a forward eye head time of 2 blocks in the city, 15-30 seconds at Highway speeds.(these tips brought to you courtesy of Doug Annett and the Skid Control School at Oakville, Ont. www.skidcontrolschool.com)
